SWS-SAC is excited for our return to in-person conferences, hosting our 2023 Conference in beautiful Georgetown, South Carolina at the Clemson University, Baruch Institute. This event will feature presentations by industry professionals, academics and students on a range of wetland related topics! We will host a variety of networking opportunities including lunches and dinners.

Workshops and Field Trips
Introduction to wetland functional assessments - Matthew Miller (see bio here) will lead this workshop on an introduction to wetland functional assessments and wetland mitigation implementation. (10 am - 2 pm, minimum 10 people, $250)
Hydric soils - Travis Richardson (see bio here) will lead a field assessment to teach attendees how to identify hydric soils. (10 am - 2 pm, minimum 10 people, $250)
Hobcaw Barony Wetlands Tour - Visit the sourthern deepwater swamps in depressional settings and Strawbery Swamp (influenced by salinity impact). Free of charge, bring your lunch (10 am - 3 pm, no minimum, free to attend, responsible for own transportation)
Black River Cypress Preserve, Guided Kayak Tour - Take a guided kayak tour along the Black River Cypress Preserve, a privately-owned nature preserve located on the South Carolina Black Scenic River. (10 am - 4pm, minimum 6 people, $120 fee, responsible for transportation to and from Black River Cypress Preserve)
Black River Cypress Preserve, Hiking and Biking Tour - Guided tour of the preserve. (10 am - 4pm, minimum 6 people, free to attend, responsible for transportation to and from Black River Cypress Preserve, bikes available upon request)
